Egypt’s Obsession with The Abay River (Blue Nile)

Egypt has always been in need to control the Ethiopian Abay River (AKA Blue Nile) for good reason – its livelihood depends on it. But having a good reason does not support taking any action to control the river. Egypt does not seem to appreciate this wisdom and has been trying historically to control the river at any cost. All its actions show Egypt’s effort to control the river without due regard for Ethiopia’s interests. Recently, Egypt bases its argument on historical rights – the fact that it had exclusive use of the river based on “agreements” that excluded Ethiopia and cannot really be considered agreement at all. Egypt has to come to its senses and approach the potential agreements on mutually beneficial grounds that acknowledges Ethiopia’s sovereignty. This video is Alja Zera’s as presented by Ustath Jemal Beshir of Kings of Abbay.
